刀には特別の興味があります I have special love for Japanese swords,for its blade, design and mystery. To me it’s a symbol of ultimate spiritual figure 本来は人を殺傷する道具だが、次第に精神性がやどり Originally the swords was developed as a weapon to kill ついには神聖化されている・・・なぜだろう？ But as the manufacturing technique advances, many distinguished swords had been produced and naturally , swords as physical tool of weapon, have been heightened into spiritual symbol of Samurai and then to the sacred holy symbol. It’s the transformation of mere weapon into spiritual symbol. 熱田神宮で「特別名刀展」が10月25日まで開催中です At Atsuta Shrine, the sword exhibition of national treasure is being held thru Oct.25 2021. 3種の「神器」である「草薙の剣」が祀られている As you may know, as one of 3 holy imperial treasures , the holy sword named Kusanagi no Tsurugi,is enshrined at Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya. (One of three major sacred shrines in Japan)
展示中の刀は鎌倉、室町のものが多く（1300年台） Exibited swords were manufactured mostly in the era of Kamakura and Muramachi period (1300 years) 刀身も「反り」が強いものが多かった And the curve of the sword is rather strong in its physical design than those swords of later era like Edo.
刀身だけで、80cmもの長刀だ The blade itself measues 80 cm in lenghth…very long… その昔、馬上での戦闘が主であったため、 Stronger curve of then swords had its practical reason reflecting the then fighting style at war where fighters fought mounting on horses 武具の邪魔にならず、抜きやすいためだったと聞いた覚えが・・ And the curved swords are designed for easy draw at fight without being blocked by heavy amour they wear mounting on horses に、しても（隣の体験室で実感したが） In this exhibit room, you are allowed to actually pick up some of the swords displayed in glass box for an enchanting experience of feeling its weight and tension holding the swords これが、刀身50cmほどの刀 This sword is 50 cm in blade lenghth これさえ片手で切りあいなど難しい With its actual weight in hand, you don’t believe in controlling fatal slashing and piercing against opponets まして、居合抜きなどできたのだろうか It’s way beyond imagination to see some master marshal artists draw sword in flash of a second to kill enemy これは刀身80cmほどの刀 This sword is 80cm in blade lenghth これは両手でもってみたが、真っすぐ振り下ろすなど想像外 I tried to hold this sword with both of my hands, but in vain. Holding the heavy sword upright over your head and bringing it straight down to kill your enemy was far beyond my power.
現代風にゆうなら「アベンジャーズ・キャラ」の「ハルク・ブルース」 あたりの怪物ぐらいしか「振り回せない」のではと感じた Maybe you need to be the giant Halk Bruce(character) of Avendures to handle swords of this weight. (smiles)
「忍」という字 Japanese kanji 「Ninn」means: Endurance or perseverance 「刀」が上からぶら下がっている状態で You sit right underneath a sword hanging from the ceiling 「平静な心」を置くと書くけど but still maintain「peace of spirit 」under any circumstances 「たなぼた」を期待する現代では「この精神性」は 難しいんだろうな～～
